Staglieno: hanging in the balance

In Genoa, there is one of the most important monumental cemeteries in Europe. A lot of travellers, before me, talked about it. Many great writers, thinkers, philosophers have visited it. From Nietzsche to Hemingway to Twain.

I had the good fortune to arrive in Staglieno on a sunny afternoon a few months ago: it was a walk in the midst of public and private memories, poised between life and death, accompanied by artistic languages ranging from neoclassicism to realism, symbolism and Art Nouveau.

I wish I had more time to discover new statues, new memories. I will be back one day. Genoa is so close, after all.
